What the CC By-Nc-Nd 4.0 License means for you
The following is a plain language summary of (and not a substitute for) the license:
You are free to:
- Share — copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format
- The licensor cannot revoke these freedoms as long as you follow the license terms.
Under the following terms:
- Attribution — You must give appropriate credit and provide a link to the license. You may do so in any reasonable manner, but not in any way that suggests the licensor endorses you or your use.
- Non-Commercial — You may not use the material for commercial purposes. (A commercial use is one intended for commercial advantage or monetary compensation.)
- No-Derivatives — If you reprocess, transform, or build upon the material, you may not distribute the modified material.
- No additional restrictions — You may not apply legal terms or technological measures that legally restrict others from doing anything the license permits.
Notices:
- You do not have to comply with the license for elements of the material in the public domain or where your use is permitted by an applicable exception or limitation.
- No warranties are given. The license may not give you all of the permissions necessary for your intended use. For example, other rights such as publicity, privacy, or moral rights may limit how you use the material.

How to give attribution:
Attribution should include the following elements:
Title – What is the name of the image?
Author – Who owns the material?
Source – Where can I find it?
License – How can it be used?
Examples:
If the Photo was given a title by the creator, use this form:
“Title of Photo” by Dom Varney is licensed under CC BY-NC-ND 4.0
If Photo is un-titled (or title unknown), use this form:
Photo by Dom Varney is licensed under CC BY-NC-ND 4.0
In these examples “Dom Varney” is linked to my website, and the “CC BY-NC-ND 4.0” is linked to the relevant Creative Commons license. A convenient way to give the source is to link the title or the word Photo to the image in the location where you found it.
Where to place Attribution Info:
Preferred: Under the Photo.
Good: At the end of the post.
